Hood Point water system restrictions

August 19 - September 2, 2022

Our water crews have been carefully managing the filtration systems and are satisfied that Hood Point can move to Water Conservation Stage 2 for the next few weeks. Corrective repairs are expected to be complete by first week of September.

Due to a mechanical failure with one of two sand filtration systems the Hood Point water system capacity is at 50%. Local crews are investigating the issue, and a specialized contractor will be on site next week.

Use of drinking water for outside purposes such as lawn and garden watering or power washing, washing cars and boats is not recommended until further notice.

Drinking water notice for people with compromised immune systems

January 1 - December 31, 2022

The Provincial Health Officer advises all British Columbians with compromised immune systems (such as HIV, organ or bone transplants, chemotherapy or medications that suppress the immune system) to avoid drinking water from any surface water or ground water that is under the influence of surface water, unless it has been boiled, filtered, distilled or treated with UV. Bowen Island and other areas in British Columbia use surface water sources (lakes, rivers, streams). This is not a general boil-water advisory for the general public, but rather is directed only at people with compromised immune systems.  If in doubt about your immune system status, please discuss this further with your physician.
